What is CEED?

CEED is The Christian East African & Equatorial Development Trust.

CEED is a nonprofit organization committed to developing and maintaining sustainable income-generating projects in poverty-stricken areas of the world. It brings together the abundant possibilities of American financial resources with the natural resources of nations situated along the Equator.

CEED offers employment and management opportunities to nationals, and oversees projects through an all-volunteer Board, which provides leadership and vision.

By controlling all phases of the supply chain, CEED products are not at the mercy of the marketplace and the middleman, and can return maximum revenue to the growers. CEED rents the land on which the products are produced, hires all local help and management, and is responsible for the shipment of product. It also creates the packaging and manages marketing and sales efforts. Because of the structure of this model, 100% of the profits go back into the local community from which the products came.

Ugandan Gold Premium™ coffee is produced at CEED’s pilot project, a coffee farm in Wambabya, Uganda that employs 30 full-time and over 100 seasonal workers. In addition to the benefit of providing regular employment in the region, revenues from the sale of this coffee and other projects fund school fees for orphans, malaria prevention projects, health care initiatives, and new economic growth projects.
